DESOLATION
is a tactical turn-based strategy game to play against the computer.
Each player owns units which can be moved and used to attack enemy units, each army is composed by tanks and mech units.
AIM OF THE GAME
is to reach the enemy red base with one of your units and defending your blue base, bringing the maximum damage to the enemy’s units while simultaneously minimizing the damage suffered.
UNITS
o Your units are tagged with a blue energy bar.
o Computer's units tagged with a red energy bar.
o Each unit has different parameters that make it suitable for different purposes.
In particular, each unit is characterized by its own:
o Health
o View Range
o Fire power
o Defensive Shield
o Movement Range
o Shot Range
At the top of each unit is a bar that indicates the actual health in a percentage. If health reaches zero the unit will explode.
TURNS
In each turn three units can be used (moved and used to attack enemies).
After the third unit has been used the turn will change automatically. To use less than three units in a turn end your turn manually using the 'end of turn' button.
Units not yet used are highlighted; units already used are not. Click on an unused unit to use it.
Once a unit is selected its movement zone will be highlighted.
If there are enemy units inside the selected units’ shot range a sight will appear over them.
MOVEMENT PHASE
Click within the movement zone to move the unit.
Then, if there are enemy units inside the unit's shot range (highlighted by a target), click on one of them to attack.
Clicking in any other place on the battlefield will end the use of that unit in this turn.
COMBAT PHASE
The combat phase can occur before or after the movement and starts by clicking on an target enemy unit (marked with a sight).
If by the end of the movement phase there are no possible targets, both phases are finished.
When attacking an enemy unit, if the target is close to the attacking unit, the latter could suffer damage; conversely, if the target is far away, the attacking unit won't be damaged.
SCORE
At the end of the game, if the enemy base has been conquered, three kinds of scoring are considered for leader boards.
o Time: the shortest time to conquer the base, the higher the ranking will be.
o Turns: the less number of turns to conquer the base, the higher the ranking will be.
o Score leader board: higher scores get higher rankings.
TO GET HIGHER SCORE:
Cause damage to the strongest units. A bonus is earned when a unit is destroyed (the stronger the unit, the higher the bonus).
Minimize damage to units. When a unit is destroyed score will be curtailed (the stronger the unit, the higher the cut).
Keep in mind that attacking an enemy from a long distance minimizes the damage suffered.
ONLINE WORLD RANKINGS
Best times, turn and scores are published online using a social gaming platform.
If the computer conquers your base, both the time and score won't be recorded.
